I live in a small town in Essex, we are about 40 miles away from London. I have had a condition called Hyperparathyroidism (sounds rather impressive doesn’t it?) which has taken over my life for the last year or so.
I decided to start this blog to chart the path from diagnosis to treatment and back, hopefully, to my old life. It has been a battle to get a diagnosis and when I did, my doctors did not understand the condition well enough to treat me and in fact gave me medication that made me feel worse. In the last year I have been told I have had a stroke, I has MS and then everything was due to depression – none of which are true. Twenty minutes after having demanded my medical notes and ‘googling’ for answers myself, I found out why I felt so ill and how a small operation could fix me.
Now comes the hardest part, getting the doctors to listen to me…
